The BMC Women’s Ready to Rock courses are 1 day long and designed to help women indoor climbers  make their first moves onto rock by having a fun day out as well as covering the use of some key skills and equipment.

A variety of topics will be covered during the day as well as offering a fun taster to outdoor climbing. Topics may include:

– Types of trad climbing equipment

– Placing good protection

– Building good belays

– Using guidebooks

– Seconding/top roping

These courses are ideal for novice climbing club members, students, parents and individuals who may have had the odd taster of climbing outdoors and wish to gain key safety skills.

The Peak District courses will meet in Hathersage, Hope Valley at 9.30am and the course will run until 4.30pm.

The price for the course is for the instruction and group climbing equipment, you will need to provide your personal clothing and equipment according to the kit list.

Courses require a minimum of 3 attendees to run. The maximum group size is 8.

It is the full intention that the day will be conducted outside however due to weather and conditions, as well as other factors, the plan may have to be adapted. This could include rope work at a low level crag or skills at an indoor climbing wall. If a climbing wall is used an entry cost will be additional to the cost of the day.

Cancellations upto eight weeks before the course attendees will receive a full refund; less than eight weeks, but more than four weeks before the course: 50% refund; less than four weeks before the course date: no refund unless a reserve is able to fill the slot*. Late non-attendance due to unforeseen circumstances needs to be reported ASAP direct to the course instructor, so that arrangements can be made to allow reserves to attend.

*Full refunds are currently guaranteed for COVID related cancellations due to self-isolation, or national or local travel restrictions.

…all but essential travel… – Rebecca Coles holds the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award and appropriate insurance; public liability and professional indemnity insurance for mountain activities. It is recommended that you take out your own personal accident and cancellation insurance.
